Montessori Head of School

Full-Time in HAWTHORNE, CA - Mid Level - Discovery

Inspire the next generation of innovators.

Discovery, a vibrant, high-quality Montessori community for children aged 10 weeks to 6 years, is seeking a Head of School.

The Opportunity

We are conducting a search for Head of School. Through your efforts, you will lead Discovery to figure prominently among the world's leading Montessori communities.

Leading Discovery’s team of educators is the most important aspect of role. You will develop the school’s Montessori guides and help them reach their full potential as educators and leaders. You will inspire classroom assistants so they may deliver excellence each and every day. You will coach and mentor the administrative team to provide exceptional service and stewardship.

In addition, you will develop and maintain warm, authentic relationships with families. You will continuously seek out opportunities to strengthen the experience for parents and children alike, including (but not limited to) developing on-going improvement plans informed by formal, semi-annual feedback from parents to ensure the best-possible experience for every parent and child.

You will oversee enrollment management (including managing the school’s waitlist), ensuring every family who inquires is properly oriented to the school and every family who is offered enrollment has a first-rate pre-matriculation experience.

Rounding out the major responsibilities, you will ensure that school operations are regulatory-compliant at all times. You will manage Discovery's operating budget, providing sound oversight over the school’s financial performance. Finally, you will lead on-going strategic initiatives, including the accreditation effort with NAEYC or other accrediting body.

Are you an experienced Montessori leader with an AMI diploma (0 – 3 or 3 – 6)? Do you want to lead your own Montessori school free from the burdens of fundraising and managing a Board of Directors? Do you have the personal qualities to lead a one-of-a-kind Montessori school community that will inspire the next generation of innovators? Do you wish to feel valued for the transformative work you do with:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Generous medical benefits, including plans with premiums that are free for employee-only coverage
  • 401(k) retirement benefits with employer match
  • Restorative work-life benefits including substantial paid time off and a host of school-paid holidays throughout the year
  • On-going career development
